Constableville:

Constable Hall - John Street and Summit Avenue, Constable, NY. (315)397-2323. Restored Georgian limestone mansion from the nineteenth century. Has a museum, formal gardens, 14 rooms, plantation veranda, and original furnishings. Open June through October 15, Tuesday through Saturday 10AM until 4:30PM, Sunday 1PM until 4:30PM. Open holidays.



Crown Point:

Crown Point State Historic Site - Champlain Bridge (4 mi off Routes 22 and 9N), Crown Point, NY 12928. (518)597-3666. National Historic Landmark. Site of Fort Saint Frederic (French, circa 1734) and Fort Crown Point (British, circa 1759). Original ruins, visitors center, exhibits. Open May-Oct, W-Sa 10AM-5PM, Su 1-5PM. Handicap accessible. Free admission.



Lake George:

Lake George Historical Association - Lake George, NY. (518)668-5044. Courthouse from 1845. Has a local history museum and old jail cells. Open year round, weekdays 10AM until 5PM, weekends 1PM until 5PM.



Lake Placid:

John Brown Farm State Historic Site - Off Route 73, Lake Placid, NY 12946. (518)523-3900. Home and gravesite of abolitionist John Brown, nature trail. Open late May-Oct. Free admission.



Malone:

Almanzo Wilder Homestead - PO Box 283, Burke Road, Malone, NY 12953. (518)483-1207. Boyhood home of Almanzo Wilder, husband of Laura Ingalls Wilder and hero of her book Farmer Boy. Free admission. Handicapped accessible. Tours. Open Memorial Day through Labor Day, Tuesday through Saturday 10AM until 4PM, Sunday 1PM until 4PM. Open off-season by appointment.

Franklin County Historical Society - Milwaukee Road, Malone, NY 12953. (518)483-2750. Large house from the Victorian area. Has antique Northern New York maps, period furnishings, library, crafts, and country store. Handicapped accessible. Tours. Open June through Labor Day, Tuesday through Saturday 1PM until 5PM. After September 8, Saturday 1PM until 4PM.



Old Forge:

Webb Historical Association - Crosby Blvd, Old Forge, NY 13420. (315)369-3838. Artifacts from Adirondack settlements. Free admission. Open: May through September, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 10AM until 4PM; October until April, 1PM until 4PM.



Raquette Lake:

Great Camp Sagamore - Raquette Lake, NY 13436. (315)354-5303. Built by William West Durant in 1897. Has 26 fireplaces and 29 buildings. Open July 4 through Labor Day, daily. Open the rest of the year by appointment.



Saranac Lake:

Robert Lewis Stevenson Cottage - Routes 3 and 86, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. (518)891-1462 or (518)891-1990. Famous author's mountain retreat. Open July 1 through September 15.



Ticonderoga:

Fort Ticonderoga - Route 74, Ticonderoga, NY 12883. (518)585-2821. Restored 1755 fort. Has a military museum, fife and drum parades, and weapons demonstrations. Group tours. Open May 4 through October 20, daily 9AM until 5PM. Extended hours July and August, daily 9AM until 6PM.

Hancock House - Moses Circle on Route 9N, Ticonderoga, NY 12883. (518)585-7868. Museum and research library. Free admission. Tours. Open year round: July through mid- October, Monday through Saturday 10AM until 4PM; mid-October through June, Wednesday until Saturday 10AM until 4PM.
